Olivia Lau
Singing Her Purpose: Olivia's Path to Becoming a Voice for Change

At just 18 years old, Olivia Lau is already a compelling force in Singapore’s performing arts scene. Raised in a family that nurtured her love for music, she is currently pursuing a Diploma in Music Performance (Voice) at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) School of Music, supported by the National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Scholarship in partnership with President’s Challenge
The scholarship has not only eased her family’s financial burden, allowing her to focus fully on her craft, but has also opened doors to professional training that has sharpened her vocal technique, strengthened her stage presence, and deepened her artistic confidence.
Empowered by the support of her family and NAC, Olivia has led both traditional and show choirs, performed in dance and vocal showcases, and garnered accolades across classical and contemporary genres. Beyond the stage, she has broadened her creative practice through internships with the National Gallery Singapore and the Museum of Contemporary Art, while also publishing analytical music essays and literary works online.
“Be the change you wish to see” is the guiding motto Olivia aspires to embody through her pursuit of becoming a versatile artist.— Olivia
To show her gratitude, Olivia gives back to the community by volunteering with organisations such as Lions Befrienders and Feiyue Active Ageing Centre, supporting underprivileged and elderly communities. She aspires to become a professional vocalist and educator, advancing Singapore’s arts scene both locally and internationally.
