Category 1

Fund Quantum: Up to $100,000/year for up to 3 years

For projects that meet the objectives of the President’s Challenge, have good project design and relevant team experience to address an identified issue or gap in the landscape, and require funding to pilot or stabilise and move to the next stage of growth

Category 2

Fund Quantum: Up to $300,000/year^{^} for up to 5 years

For projects that meet the objectives of the President’s Challenge, have consistently achieved good results in addressing an identified issue or gap in the landscape, and have the potential to scale and become self-sustaining.

^{^}Except for 4th and 5th year, where funding will be stepped down to $200k and $150k respectively to encourage entities to plan for sustainability.

Clear objective of supporting upliftment

Project clearly describes how it will produce an improvement in the trajectory of the quality of life for those facing greater challenges, providing outcomes that can be sustained beyond the funding period. ​

• Project should produce sustained impact by uplifting aspirations, abilities and/or potential. ​

• Upliftment can take place in and/or across different domains, such as in the community, the arts or sports.

Project makes a credible case to justify the need for this project and how it adds value and achieves a distinct impact in the existing landscape. ​

• For established programmes, there should be supporting research/data. ​

• For new/pilot programmes where it is not reasonable to have data available, a well-reasoned argument should be made based on the needs of the target group and the nature of the interventions. ​

Project design

• Proposal clearly describes how the activities/ interventions lead to the intended outcomes. ​

• Project's timelines to achieve the intended outcomes are realistic.

Team’s experience

Project team understands or has experience serving the target group.

Community activation

It will be helpful if the project:

• involves volunteers and clearly describes how the use of volunteers will benefit the beneficiaries.​

• promotes multiracialism and/or cross-cultural appreciation, where practical.

Project past performance

The project has consistently demonstrated good outcomes.

Project impact

• The proposal identifies suitable output and outcome indicators to measure the impact to beneficiaries.​

• The project has potential to scale.​

Project sustainability

The proposal clearly articulates how the project will be sustainable beyond the funding period.
