From skincare specialist to stroke recovery: Dr Jessica Ee’s road back to medicine

At 34, Dr. Jessica Ee was a vibrant dermatologist and Associate Consultant at Sengkang General Hospital, popular on social media for her engaging skincare content and medical insights. Life was busy and purposeful— until an unexpected health crisis changed everything.
In October 2023, Jessica suffered a sudden stroke that affected her mobility, and daily function. Overnight, she found herself on the other side of care — unable to walk, speak clearly, or perform daily tasks she once did effortlessly. For she used to give strength to others, facing her own physical limitations was one of the hardest challenges she had ever encountered.

Determined not to let her condition define her future, Jessica turned to ABLE (Abilities Beyond Limitations and Expectations), a social service agency supported by the President’s Challenge. There, she began a personalised rehabilitation journey with the help of a dedicated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech specialists.

“The team at ABLE not only helped me regain strength, they also helped me believe I could rebuild my life.”— says Jessica
Today, she has returned to social media, using her platform to share her recovery journey and raise awareness about stroke rehabilitation and mental resilience.
Jessica hopes to return to her medical practice one day, stronger and more empathetic than before.

Together, we can help more individuals rebuild their lives with strength, dignity, and hope.
